Sleepwalking apart from the band’s song is a sleep disorder by which many people across the world suffer. It is also known as para somnia and is associated with a disorder of wakefulness while being asleep. This means that while the person is sleep, they might just get up and walk. It can also be defined further as a person being affected in manner in which she/ he are apparently shifting from their normal sleeping positions. Or they might just involve themselves in doing normal actions like cleaning or walking around but they are actually asleep. But this situation doesn’t mean that they are unconscious of their surroundings. They might be conscious but cannot remember their actions once they wake up. It’s a curable condition and needs to be treated right away.

A song on Sleepwalking Blindside created uproar in the world of rock. They from popularly known as a post hardcore band who are Stockholm, in Sweden. They were formed in the year 1994 and were then known as Underfree. They changed their name in the 1997 when they were signed on by a big record label. Their album Silence had the song sleep-walking and this topped the charts throughout the world. The four minutes, three seconds long song was appreciated by all and is still very much remembered by rock fans. Many other groups too, have written songs on sleep-walking as their subjects. Apart from the songs, sleep-walking term is also been used worldwide to create comedy from it especially in health magazines.

People, who suffer from this disorder, often get up while sleeping and leave their rooms or the place at which they were sleeping. This condition is called sleepwalk. This means they are actually asleep but are walking. Many a times, it so happens that the sleep walking person might hurt themselves or fall down while walking in their sleep.

A sleep-walking person is known as a sleepwalker. Many times, such people have been known to be tied up to their beds or have been locked in their rooms to avoid them to venture out. This is for their own safety and family members and friends are only able to control them by doing so.

Children too suffer from this disorder. The disorder of sleepwalking children if treated at an earlier stage can be cured. Also it is not necessary that they do so daily. It could be that a particular day or night, this might occur. Therefore, parents and other family members have to be very careful about them.

It is also known as somnambulism or Para- somnambulism as it is a wakeful condition while being asleep. It mostly takes place during the REM or the rapid eye movement stage of sleep and is mostly a nocturnal activity. It is also said that if the sleepwalking occurs in children, it might then decrease as the person grows up.

There are many sleep disorders in this world and sleep paralysis is one of them. This occurs when a person is sleeping and any kind of normal movement cannot take place. It so happens that the brain wakes up from sleep but the body doesn’t. This means that the person is suffering from sleep-paralysis. When this occurs, which is most of the time during the REM or the rapid eye movement stage, the person may experience panic or hallucinations. But during this time if someone makes a noise, or a sound or a touch may wake the person up entirely. In the African culture, this disorder is often known as devil sitting on someone’s back and therefore, any kind of movement is impossible. Sleep-paralysis is often related to paralysis of the whole body. But in many cases eye movements have been recorded during this condition. Generally, this kind of condition doesn’t last long but sometimes in severe cases, it might go up to six months and this is when the person is suffering from paralysis.

If it is not detected earlier, this can become a sleeping disorder. Then it can be identified as isolated sleep paralysis. This can also happen when a person feels like a condition when you feel your soul is extracted out of your body. It is a like feeling of ecstasy. This is often described as another level of sleep-paralysis. Patients suffering from this should be tested for narcolepsy too. This is when even after the treatment the various symptoms persist.

There are many causes of sleep paralysis. It may happen a person has irregular sleeping habits. Someone may be taking naps in between the work. Or depriving one’s self of sleep for very long periods of time. Also a lot of increase in stress can lead to this sleeping disorder.

A sudden lifestyle change can also be a cause of this disorder. Sleeping in a supine position too may lad to this disorder. Personal hygiene too is of importance. Sleep paralysis treatments can differ. The first step towards this is to educate the patient about the various stages of sleep.

Then they should make it a point to sleep on time and avoid sleep deprivation for long periods of time. This step would lay the symptoms to rest. But if they still persists sleep disorder paralysis even after this, then one should get a test for narcolepsy done. Consulting a therapist or a well known doctor is very important.

Sleep-paralysis, paralysis is often confused and associated with the out of body feeling. But the focus mentally differs in both the states. In the state of sleep paralysis is person is trying hard to regain the control of their body movement whereas in the latter state they feel unknown pressure from an outside souse on their body.

The restless syndrome is a disorder that occurs in the part of the nervous system which affects the movements of legs. It’s considered to be a sleep disorder because it mainly happens while a person is sleeping. This can happens in the arms of the person too. The person may get so disturbed that they are highly compelled to relieve themselves by moving their legs. The restlessness includes furious pacing about, turning and tossing in the bed or involuntary rubbing of the legs. But these might happen only when one is sitting or lying down. In very severe cases, it has been seen that the person cannot get rid of the restless legs-syndrome symptoms even when their move their limbs. But in normal cases, they get better just small movements of the limbs. There are other symptoms which have been noted too. They are sleep disturbances or sleeping during the day. If a person gets up with a severe jerk or jolt, this might occur. It is not necessary that these occur every night. People who suffer from this have very strange sensations in their legs and have make movements to get back to the normal state.

One of the many sleep disorders in the world, there is one known as the restless-leg syndrome and the symptoms of restless-leg syndrome are as follows. It is also known as the RLS and the person suffering from this condition will have strange itching in their legs or feel the crawling sensation somewhere deep within their legs. Actually there is no prescribed treatment for this. It all depends on the person’s health and lifestyle. Therefore, there is no particular medication one can take to relieve themselves of this condition. Some feels like many pins are being poked or needles are pricking them.

Else something is crawling on their legs. This mainly happens when one is lying in the bed. This happens to all; men, women and children. But it is mostly seen in the middle age group. There is no restless leg syndrome treatment which has been 100 percent successful.

There is not much that can be done for the restless leg syndrome symptoms. But people suffering from this must exercise regularly so that their blood circulation remains good and healthy. Plus a balanced diet is of utmost importance without which the whole body suffers.

The restless legs syndrome can also be known as Wittmaack-Ekbom’s syndrome. Also the kind of drugs used for the treatment of RLS is a questionable thing. Over the years, there have been marketing controversies surrounding the drug used for this condition.

If a person is suffering from the restless leg syndrome, then it might be so that they have iron deficiency and therefore they need to take iron supplements along with their daily diet. Restless syndrome can be a potentially dangerous situation.

REM sleep is a sleeping disorder which usually affects the rapid eye movement of the sufferer. Normal sleep is known to have two states which are distinct. One of them is known as the non rapid eye movement state and the other one is known as the rapid eye movement state. The non rapid eye movement sleep is further divided into four different stages. Usually, the breathing becomes extremely irregular during rapid eye movement sleep. The sufferer also experiences a rise in the blood pressure during this kind of sleep. A lot of muscle tone is also lost by the individual who is suffering from this kind of disorder. However, one of the most interesting aspects related to this disorder is that the brain is extremely active of the sufferer and in fact the research has proved that the activity of the brain of the sufferer during disorder of REM-sleep is as good the activity recorded after waking up of that individual.

The disorder of REM-sleep also has the ability to affect the behavior of an individual and the term is known as the disorder of REM-sleep behavior. You would notice that this disorder usually affects the people who are middle aged. However, people who are in their 60s and 70s also tend to be prone towards this disorder. This disorder can affect the behavior of the sufferer in a major way and the sufferer might suddenly start kicking, jumping, yelling, talking or even punching in the night on the bed. Most of the times this happens because of the fact that the sufferer is experiencing a bad dream and hence reacts to the dream. This disorder is probably the worst of the entire REM sleep cycle.

The causes of the REM sleeping disorder are not known. However, certain predictions have been made and many efforts have been taken in order to know the exact cause. Most of the experts believe that this disorder is caused in association with the different neurological conditions which are degenerative in nature.

The REM sleep disorder symptoms can be identified easily in an individual. One of the most common symptoms of this disorder is that the person starts to enact the dreams that he/she experiences. The behavior can be violent at most of the times.

The REM sleep behavior disorder symptoms are probably the most dangerous symptoms of any sleeping disorder as the patient tends to cause injury to his/her bed partner or even to his/her own self. There is a chance for a fatal injury if proper care is not taken.

The disorder of REM-sleep can awaken the person who is suffering completely or at times the person might not be fully awake. It is highly important that disorder of REM sleep patients be treated in a proper manner and they should be observed while they are asleep.

The term night terrors are also known as sleep terrors. Sleep terror is a sleeping disorder just as the name suggests and it is parasomnia in nature. Night-terrors are something that affects many people around the world. A person suffering from this disorder also experiences inability to be in a state of complete consciousness on many occasions. This is one of the prime reasons why the term terror is used alongside this disorder. An individual who is suffering from night-terror usually wakes up in the night and starts walking, screaming, moaning or even gasping. However, when the individual wakes up the next morning he/she is completely unaware as to what happened the previous night. Many people believe that night-terror is something which is similar to nightmares. However, there is a lot of difference between the two terms and they are not similar to each other in most of the ways.

During a night terror the subject is not fully asleep while during a nightmare the subject is fully asleep. A nightmare is an imagination and dream while a night-terror is not an imagination as the events happen in reality. Nightmares are supposed to be very scary and increase the level of fear in the individuals mind. However, night-terror is something which is scary but it mind not necessarily increase fear in the person’s mind. This is mainly because the individual does not remember night-terror the next morning while nightmare is something that can be recalled the next morning very easily.

Night-terror is very common amongst adults. There have been plenty of night terrors adults’ cases around the world. There is not much information available as to why exactly people suffer from the problem of night-terror. Most of the experts believe that it usually affects people who have a weak mind and are not stable.

One of the worst aspects of night-terrors of sleeping disorder is that small children are very prone towards this sleeping disorder and it can affect them very easily. Night terrors in toddlers are usually seen in the children of age group between the ages of two years to six years.

Night terrors children cases are in plenty and it is believed that as many as fifteen percent of the total number of children around the world suffer from this disorder between the age of two to six. Usually, the symptoms showed by the children are different than that showed by adults in most of the cases.

One of the most important differences in the night-terrors experienced by children is that most of the children are able to recall the events that took place the previous night unlike the adults. Most of the children get fever and headache due to the stress suffered because of night terrors.
